Born in Belo Horizonte, André Brant is a conductor and pianist. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in conducting from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in the class of professors Charles Roussin and Silvio Viegas. After completing his studies in Brazil, he moved to Germany where he earned a master’s degree in orchestral conducting and cornetry at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany, in the class of Christian Kluttig and Stefen Leißner.
In addition to having performed several concerts in Brazil, he has also conducted orchestras in Germany, Lithuania, Italy and the Czech Republic.
He has participated in courses and masterclasses with the most renowned conductors of today, with emphasis on Jorma Panula, John Neschling, Robert Spano, Lanfranco Marceletti, Marin Alsop, Giancarlo Guerrero, Osvaldo Ferreira, among others.
In 2015, André founded Cia Mineira de Ópera, a group that has been operating since then with the aim of promoting and disseminating opera throughout the state of Minas Gerais. In association with this group, he conducted and musically directed several productions, with emphasis on the season held in 2016 when 5 operas were produced. He was also responsible for conducting and the musical direction of the world premiere of “Pitágoras de Samos” by Andersen Viana, which won numerous awards, including the “All that Moves International Film Festival 2022” as Best Cinema Soundtrack for a Brazilian Feature Film.
